HARRIED MOM FILES--YADA YADA YADA...I'M REALLY TIRED TODAY
59
UGH! I think I'm getting too old to play softball. I'm 45--and seriously, isn't that the age of geriatric baseball players? But I keep doing it, and suffering the day after. Why you might ask? I just want to get out of the house.
I love my kids, don't get me wrong. But, a summer full of packing and going to the shore, or the beach, or the movies, or other places can make someone wish for rain--seriously! Then, when it rains, they fight over the computer or the Wii, or anything under the sun. They love each other so much more when they are outside.
The idea of escaping my children twice a week for a few hours is not the only reason why I want to get out there and compete. I do love the sport. I know that I'm past my prime--I've accepted that. My knee hurts constantly, and our team is not very good this year, so we are getting pounded by better teams. We just like to get together. Some of us have been together on this same team for 20 years. That's 20 years of friendship, and we have an excuse to get together for 3 months in the summer. In that way, the pain worth it.
I think that I need a nap.
